Thoughts on the Project from the designer:
For this project I worked with discarded auto-parts, punched aluminum disks and carbon fiber panels. As I became familiar with my materials I was able to recognize relationships in a way I hadn’t in the past. This lead me to name my collection of designs “Rooted” (one of the finished pieces is named Rooted) Not only inspired by the materials I used but also the process of transformation itself. A very important concept for Mend on the Move is growth; working to realize a new life and brighter future. This concept combined with my inspiration of the word “fiber” lead me to the word rooted and its deep relationship with growth. Transforming discarded auto parts and reimagining them, giving them a beautiful and stylish second life.
