Susan and her team take a hands-on approach with customers regarding the Mend on the Move line. If a shopper is admiring one of our pieces, a Vitrine teammate is right there! Care is taken to explain our mission regarding helping survivors of abuse, the upcycled auto component, and the unique beauty of the work. It’s personal to her and her staff.

Vitrine is “a shop for good” and represents other retail companies with missions, as well. Susan explained that it is important that the customer feels good about the purchase. In regard to Mend on the Move sales, each customer is given a favorite post-card explaining the Mend message, along with a special bag. She articulates that this level of customer service and brand awareness helps her customers see the big picture. Susan expresses that she sincerely hopes to see more retail stores selling in this way.

Aside from driving the “purchasing with purpose movement” in her stores, Susan and the Vitrine staff are very involved in national and local fundraisers to support the communities they reside in. She has an eye for unique, beautiful items that can be seen throughout her stores. With over 40 years of gift store experience, along with a background in marketing, Susan brings a lot to the table! Her energy, and enthusiasm for philanthropy is contagious. The effect is that the staff and clients she serves are fully onboard to enjoy a special purchase, while making a difference. A winning combo!
